Light Of The World

Last Sunday, TOUCH Community Services officially launched Singapore’s first-of-its-kind activity centre at Block 433 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 to enable its residents to support ageing in community. The facility is uniquely designed to promote social interaction among the residents, with a state-of-the-art gym that was generously sponsored, as well as open spaces that are accessible to the public 24/7. With the addition of this new space, TOUCH has seen isolated seniors getting connected, elderly wheelchair users exercising alongside residents, caregivers growing in self-confidence, and diabetes patients becoming health-advocated.

We were especially honoured to have our Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, officiate the opening ceremony together with us. Being ex-National Junior College schoolmates back in the day, both Senior Pastor Nina and I had a great time catching up with him.

Interestingly, this is the first of our 23 centres in the community to be named “TOUCHpoint”. Our dear brother James Tan, the CEO of TOUCH Community Services, told me that he will eventually rename all the other centres to “TOUCHpoints” as well. This is really exciting for me as it was the vision that God gave me for FCBC in 1988. God wanted FCBC to set up a network of touchpoints all over Singapore to serve the needs of the community. These touchpoints will become beacons all over the island that will bring God’s light to the nation.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
- Matthew 5:14-16

- Senior Pastor Lawrence Khong
