This past week, I had a blessed opportunity to spend time with more than 350 pastors and Christian workers from all districts of Timor Leste to seek the Lord for spiritual breakthroughs in their nation. For this second Pastors’ Prayer Summit, 21 flags were featured at the opening ceremony, which represented the nations that have been involved in the growth and development of this young nation. As I counted the 21 flags, I sensed that God has a great spiritual destiny for Timor Leste, just as God has a destiny for Singapore. And I thank God that Singaporeans, in particular LoveSingapore and FCBC members, have played an active part in shaping the history of this land.
The atmosphere at this summit was vastly different from the previous year. It was held at a newly built presbyterian church in the town centre, and the local pastors and missionaries were much more involved in organising and planning the event. They demonstrated ownership and we saw many pastors rising up to be fully dedicated to this unity movement. In fact, I was told that unity prayer meetings are now taking place in the capital, Dili, as well as in a number of districts across the nation. There’s no doubt that God is on the move in this place.
Do remember our missionary, Pastor Catherine Foo, who is still arduously labouring in the district of Viqueque. She shared that she is facing many challenges in her ministry, like the drought that has persisted for almost two years. Last year’s crops were devastated by the drought, and now the land cannot even be cultivated. Some Christian villages felt this drought may have come upon them because the spirits are angry that they have followed Jesus. Pray that God will strengthen Pastor Catherine to be persistent in prayer for more breakthroughs in her ministry. Pray also that the curse of this drought will be broken as we apply the blood that flowed from the forehead of Jesus, as a result of His crown of thorns, over this land. Let the curse of the ground be broken for the glory of God! May Timor Leste arise and shine for Him!
