Old Testament Overview Part 2

Registration Period: 1 – 30 September 2025

Objectives

  1. To provide participants with pointers and handles for reading the Old Testament:
    • Genres: Narratives, Poetry and Apocalyptic
      (Prose / Discourse will not be covered as they are mainly the letters in the New Testament)
    • Literary devices in Ezekiel with examples across other books of the Latter Prophets
  2. To review the Books of Isaiah & Joel and eschatological passages in the prophets e.g. Isaiah, Zechariah, Ezekiel and Daniel so as to enable participants to understand God’s revelations pertaining to the end times and the coming Kingdom of God.
  3. To review related passages of eschatology in the Old Testament with those in the New Testament (e.g. Matthew 24, Revelation 6 – 22).
  4. To differentiate between the rapture of the Church from the 2nd coming of Christ.

Session 1
Genres and literary devices in the Old Testament

Session 2
Books of Isaiah and Joel and eschatological passages across the Old Testament Prophets

Session 3
Apocalyptic literature and eschatology in the Book of Daniel, especially on the prophecy of the 70th week (i.e. the last 7 years before God’s kingdom is established on earth)

Session 4
Eschatology in the Old Testament referencing key eschatological passages in the New Testament (Events by Timeline)
