There Is Hope

Life will always be filled with its fair share of trouble. After all, that’s something that Jesus had promised us in John 16:33. As much as that may sound hopeless, the essence of what Jesus was saying is that there is hope! The verse doesn’t just talk about how life will have troubles and end there. Instead, it tells us to take heart, because Jesus has overcome the world. That, is a message of hope.

As we look through the book of Job over these next few weeks, what I believe the Lord wants to remind us of is this – regardless how messed up things get, there is always hope in Jesus Christ. While we have been promised that there will be trouble and suffering, we have also been assured that we have hope. When darkness closes in and everything seems to be falling apart, we don’t have to lose hope, because Jesus will always be our constant.

However, this doesn’t mean that we’re going to feel fine all the time. The fact is that troubles will get us down, and when it strikes, our emotions can and will be all over the place. The Bible teaches us something interesting about this in 1 Thessalonians 4:13. Talking about death, Paul explained that Christians do grieve, but they do so with hope. The point here is that what makes us different from the world is not that our lives will be perfect and free from pain. The difference is that even when we grieve, we grieve with hope.

Today, I’m not asking you to put on a facade and act like everything is alright. I’m not telling you that every single moment of your life will be filled with joy. I’m here to tell you, that regardless of the situation you are in, there is hope. So, why don’t you come before Jesus and He will give you rest. I’ll end off with this beautiful verse of a song which I believe will be a great encouragement to you.

“And this is my prayer in my battle,
When triumph is still on its way.
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ,
So firm on His promise I’ll stand.”
