Building Trust, Playing Together

God always makes something great out of our missteps. Not only did we at FCBC learn the importance of good, timely communication, God allowed Gateway Entertainment’s (GE) quickly rustled together Staff Advance for her staff from across the different departments – from Sales and Marketing and Theatre Management located at Gateway Theatre, to the Production and Technical teams located at Ban Teck Han building, reap enormous benefits. All of GE’s staff were recalled from work and brought together for a mandatory time of rest and play at Rasa Sentosa this past Monday and Tuesday.

Outsourcing is the new buzzword these days! So, in order for every staff in GE to have fun, we engaged the services of TOUCH Adventures, who created and crafted various meaningful team building activities over these two days. The unique activities TOUCH Adventures created for us were not only intensely competitive, but also encouraged collaborative play. They were designed to motivate the members within each team to pool their talents and perform at their best, both individually and as team players. Through the games, we soon discovered that diversity was our greatest asset, and trust, cooperation and communication were key to our success. Thank you, TOUCH Adventures, for putting together these meaningful activities for us. I know that all our GE staff will return to work with a fresh perspective.

Our Staff Advance came to a close with more team bonding activities aboard the Royal Albatross Luxury Tall Ship, including spontaneous dancing by our sporting staff, in response to the professional singer serenading us aboard the ship. We sailed through the evening calm of Singapore’s waters, taking in the sights of Sentosa – from fireworks to pyrotechnics, which ended our dinner sail and marked the end of GE’s Staff Advance. At the end of our two days of intense rest and play, I believe what Henry Ford had said, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success” will come to pass for Gateway Entertainment.
