Be The Light

Dear extreme disciples,

In the lead-up to our anticipated G12 Asia Conference this year, I want to remind all of us these words from Apostle John, “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:5-9)

God’s Word teaches us that as His disciples, we cannot walk in darkness. Instead we should be in the light as our Lord is. The Greek word for “darkness” is “skotos”, which literally means physical darkness, and also metaphorically refers to our spiritual, moral and intellectual darkness. This darkness can arise from error, ignorance, disobedience, wilful blindness, and even rebellion. In summary, this “darkness” represents evil and humanity’s fallen nature.

Dear disciples, what we need to be concerned with is this: can a believer, who is a resident of God’s kingdom of light, still walk in darkness? Apostle John tells us that the answer is yes. Although God has broken the power of darkness over us - whenever we choose to sin, we give darkness the opportunity to make a dwelling place in our hearts and minds. We can only be set free from the darkness and bondage of our sins when we allow God to bring it to light and take us through a personal encounter with Him. As Apostle John goes on to explain in 1 John 5:13, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

As each of us prepares to receive and fulfill our destiny as the light at the upcoming G12 Asia Conference, let’s have some personal soul-searching before our Lord Jesus. In these dark and uncertain times, there is a dire need for us to be transformed into beacons of light for our present world. Senior Pastor Lawrence and I encourage you to register and attend this conference, where you will be blessed to be God’s light in Singapore!
