FCBC GKidz Children's Carnival 2011

Matt 19:14: 'Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these'.

At TOUCHCENTRE (TC), GKidz threw open its doors and welcomed the children in and around Marine Parade with a carnival that spilled out into the open spaces surrounding TC. Hundreds of children from the community, together with the children from GKidz thronged in to have fun at the carnival. The kids were kept entertained throughout the carnival, with the many stations they could visit. There were rides for the kids to get into, including a human-foosball game that proved to be a hit with the boys. The girls were not left out, with face and nail painting stations for them to get thrilled over.

Meanwhile, the children from David Club were treated to a play circuit, where they rotated around game stations. Our volunteers were greeted with grins as they gave out free popcorn and candy floss to all the children.

Over at Bukit Merah Sports & Lifestyle Centre, the venue was bustling with sounds of laughter & excitement of the many groups of children and their leaders. At a whistle’s blow, groups moved from station to station, engaged in the various activities catered to their age group. At the sand pit, the young ones played with plastic toys, while the older kids teamed up for land games such as basketball, dog & bone, captain’s ball & soccer.

The swimming pools were an aquarium of activity, dotted with children buoyed by their bright orange life-jackets and climbing over life-sized water-game equipment provided by the vendors. To top it all off, the children & leaders were treated to ice cream after an interactive ice-cream making workshop, and freshly made popcorn.

It was evident that the fun was not just for the kids – many leaders were still smiling broadly despite being tired and soaking wet after the event. Timothy Wong, a GKidz volunteer who serves as a musician said: “I never knew working with kids could be so rewarding… I really enjoy working with kids and will continue to do so!”
