Kenneth and Kim are two of FCBC’s 144 leaders who recently attended the 5th National G12 Conference Philippines at SMX Convention Centre, Manila. Read more about their experience here!
This being our first trip to Manila, we were greeted by a city teeming with 14 million people, but filled with great contrast. First, it was the stark contrast of the outlining slums (quite a shocker to the orderly Singaporean) to the skyscrapers, luxurious shopping malls and six star hotels in the downtown of Makati, then the beat up passenger lorries to the latest models of continental cars that plied (or often crawled) the congested streets.
This exciting city is also the gathering place of some 18,000 participants, coming together to catch the vision of "The Power of a Dream” in the three day G12 conference. The line-up of powerful speakers including Pastor Cesar, his International 12 and the Philippines’ National 12, saw the conference inspire many delegates, especially the youths who were blessed and fired up from the Word of God.
The Philippines is going to see an outpouring of the Holy Spirit as hearts and churches are aligned to see this country and their countrymen saved. This is the unity brought about by Pastor Cesar and the vision of G12. Pastors and churches are brought together shoulder to shoulder, side by side, all drawn by the vision of winning souls and the land for God.
However, attaining this vision is not without struggles and fights. At every level of 12, whether at the national or international level or even in a church, the 12 is tested in terms of unity, loyalty, alignment, self-ambition… etc. Witnessing the level of unity from behind the scenes is a valuable perspective, in which my wife and I were privileged to catch a glimpse of. I am also proud of our church, which has laid foundations and built strong ties with the Filipino pastors, first through our cell church days and now through the G12 movement. Indeed, G12 is the weapon God has designed to win the world.
The G12 vision is drawing this nation together. Let us watch and pray, and expect more exciting news coming from the Philippines. I believe we are going to see a nation rise up to redeem herself from the notorious reputation of corruption, human trafficking and prostitution, to a land of righteousness and prosperity. I also believe that we will see the fulfilment of the prophecy that the Philippines shall also be sending out missionaries and ambassadors of the good news!
What then can we do for the Philippines?
Firstly, let us pray for the Philippines and the many Filipinos amongst us in Singapore. I confess that prior to the trip; I had a certain mind-set about them and these were not positive assumptions. But my eyes were opened when I saw one of FCBC’s past "zone supervisors" from the cell church days mightily used by the Lord. Having returned to the Philippines for many years, she is now pastoring a church, connecting internationally and is part of the Philippines’ National 144!
Secondly, when the opportunity unfolds, let us step up and step out to the Philippines to minister and work with the Filipino churches. I guarantee that the experience would be both eye-opening as well as heart-opening!
Finally, as we continue in our own G12 journeys, let us be awakened to the fact that we are part of the largest purpose and process of the hands of God in winning our loved ones, our friends, our community and our nation. As we gather in our cells, never lose sight of the larger purposes and be excited that God is using us and our cells to accomplish the vision He has set.
As we bid our Filipino friends farewell, the Singapore team always ended with "I’ll see you in Singapore in February 2012”. Indeed, we will hear and see more of what God is doing in our own G12 conference in Singapore, February 2012!
