The Special People Ministry (SPM), a ministry in Rev Caleb Chan's network, comprises of four groups - Physically Disabled Ministry, Intellectually Disabled Ministry, Blind Ministry and Deaf Ministry. At present, it has more than 300 people.

SPM desires to bring the Gospel to special people and help them develop to their fullest potential. Besides ministering God's Word to them, we also aim to develop special teaching materials and groom them into leadership.  Its future goal is to work towards integrating its various members into the G12 network.

In November 1992, SPM reached out to the physically disabled when such cell groups began meeting at Cheshire Home. In 1995, Spiritual Formation classes for them were held in the Home, and cell groups were also started in the Red Cross Home. Today, FCBC has about 110 physically disabled people attending our Saturday and Sunday church services.

The Intellectually Disabled adult cell group in FCBC was started in May 1994 with only five people. It has since grown to an attendance of 70 people. In 1997, SPM started a church service for the Intellectually Disabled.

The Blind Ministry was started in April 1999. It started with five blind people and was led by a sighted person. Now, more than 30 blind people regularly attend FCBC's church services. They are assisted by SPM volunteers who lead them in and out of the services and read out the lyrics of worship songs to them.

Disabled individuals, like every one else, are God's created beings. There is a biblical mandate that we do not exclude our counterparts who have disabilities. Everyone is called to minister to the poor, the needy and the weak.

Mission Statement
We seek to fulfill God's purpose in bringing the gospel to people with disabilities in our nation and beyond by developing every believer to his full potential in Jesus Christ within a vision and value-driven environment and God-centered community.

Why Reach Out to People with Disabilities?

They are God's Creation
Disabled individuals, like every one else, are God's created beings.

The Bible mentions the different disabilities that He has created. We are to minister them.

It is a Biblical mandate
There is a Biblical mandate that we do not prefer one to the other. In the heart of God there is no exclusion of our counterpart with disabilities.

Everyone is called to support the poor, the needy and the weak.
